Love in CDescription
This work shows a nude couple wearing masks, and looking out of the window. The almost absurd association of the use of mask, meant to help secure the hygiene of the air breathed by an individual, with the intimacy of the pose, is a stark reminder of the impact of the pandemic related media during the lockdowns. The clair-obscur composition of this work shows the inside of the bedroom as almost pitch black, in contrast with the radiant light coming in through the window. The pain of the lockdowns and their resulting impact of relationships was an inspiration for the work. Inspired by a photograph by Roberto Zampino. This series is characterised by the use of dark paper and purple shades - these unrealistic tones give the viewer a sense of the uniqueness of the situation experienced by many over the pandemic.
